How To Grow Aloe Vera

Aloe is well known as a medicinal plant and is also used as a popular base for many cosmetic products. It releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide at night. For this reason it is ideal for the home. This is a long-lasting plant that will benefit from a spell outdoors in a sunny, protected spot.

The plants we supply are well rooted and in top condition. Require a sunny window sill (the kitchen is a practical place where burns/scalds can occur). Size width 12 cm x 33 cm from Pot Lip to Top.

Water moderately from May to early September. Do not over water from October until late/end of March - even if the plant appears to dehydrate, this is better than being over wet. You can grow outside in Summer. Divide/re-propagate from off-sets by cutting off with a sharp knife in July/August. Allow to dry in the sun for a week then pot into moist gritty compost.

To obtain gel, simply cut off about 2 cm of leaf and split to then scoop out gel... plant will soon heal itself.
